Hitman's Bodyguard - Movie Review

Hitman's Bodyguard Movie Review

The trailer does not even begin to showcase how incredibly awesome this movie is. I have been rendered speechless after watching this movie. It is so beautiful, romantic, action-packed, hilarious, and has its tense moments as well. I saw this movie because I’m a Ryan Reynolds fan. Watching Ryan Reynolds talk is worth every second. I never imagined this movie would have so much depth and detail on so many different levels. Samuel L Jackson was amazing and has played a wonderful role. What I didn’t expect in this movie was the romance. It was so focused on love and the importance of love in a person’s life.

The story of the movie is quite intricate and has a lot of twists and turns. The characters and their motive drives the story through a complicated yet easy to follow scenario and does a good job at entertaining. You have to give this movie a try if you like action or romance. I absolutely loved the movie. I have seen it three times already and I’m sure I’m going to keep watching it over and over again every now and then. The conflict between the two distinctively opposite lead characters in the movie was really great. We often come across such people and life and sometimes, just sometimes they end up becoming our best buddies in the world.

I loved Samuel L Jackson’s character, his back story, how he becomes a Hitman, how in his opinion he is the good guy as he only assassinates the bad guys and never lays a finger on innocent lives. However, the most important trait I like in his character is his indefinite love for his wife. He is reckless, has amazing shooting and hand-to-hand combat skills and is unkillable in the movie.

Ryan Reynolds plays an excellent uptight Bodyguard who is elite and at the top of his field. He takes his job and love very seriously, is pedantic, works extremely hard and always has a plan. The only thing he fails to understand is that life has no rhythm or rhyme and sometimes things just happen or go sideways and you have to deal with it. No plan or forethought can outsmart the random events that life puts us through. His character does learn that over the course of the movie along with getting his love back with the help of Samuel L Jackson’s love advice.

The action scenes in the movie were really intense, violent and crazy. There was tons of swearing. The music and choice of songs was really good. The romantic scenes were beautiful. Salma Hayek played a wonderful dangerous lady who did scare the shit out of me with her impulsive character. Elodie Yung got a small yet important role and she did it fantastically. Gary Oldman played a mean villain in the movie. I genuinely recommend the movie. I loved every bit of it and I am extremely excited to see the sequel ‘Hitman’s Bodyguard 2’ that is releasing in 2020.
